We wanted to find a new quality which does not fatigue and yet does not pay too much homageto a certain fashion.
Proportions, peace and poetry without any obligation, but also a serious and respectful use of the valuable material.
We found the solution in the view backwards. Since ancient times we know the Roman Pattern, which allows a resource-friendly and holistic use of natural stone by its different element sizes. Why should this not also be possible for the precious and valuable wood? The square and rectangular formats and the changing wood grain create an undirected floor for flowing and free spatial sequences. The harmoniously balanced proportionality of the edges have an inherent mystery that can not
be immediately realised. A mystery of proportions that can be felt, but whose charm and appearance astounds us. Yet in its simplicity and logic it seems timeless and beautiful. This natural, apparently conventional beauty may surely need a little more courage in its realisation than something superficially spectacular.
